Construction Update 1/30/15

THE WALL IS DOWN!!

After a couple of weeks of the temporary wall, we now have our new bar/lounge area.  The wall went down this morning and while we still have more work to do it is open!  Work continues on the 4 season room with a completion date sometime in March.

Construction Update 1.23.15

Everything is moving quickly as our expanded bar/lounge area should be ready for customers by the end of next week (fingers crossed!).  Outside of the restaurant, the plastic covering will be down by next Tuesday as the workers will have completed the exterior brick and EIFS.  The four season room will be next to be finished with a goal of opening in March.  Thanks for all the patience as we complete construction.

Construction Update 1/15/15

The woodworkers have been busy this week building our new bar extension.  Everything is done by hand and made in their shop in Chicago so it will take a few days for them to assemble on-site.  We hope that the temporary wall will be removed sometime next week and the new bar/lounge area will be ready for customers by the end of the month.

Construction Update 1.8.15

We are back!  Our couple of days of closing really helped our construction crew move the project along.  The brick wall is down and a temporary wall has been constructed.  The temporary wall cuts off some of the waiting space but it will only be for two weeks so the bar/lounge are can be completed.  Once completed we will have 8 more seats at the bar along with a spacious lounge area along with a working fireplace.  Thanks to all of you for our patience as we work to finish this as soon as possible.  And, thanks to our construction crew for battling the extreme weather all week!

Construction Update 12.11.14

Construction continues to move along as the 4 season room now has all of the windows in place and the framing for the improved bar/lounge area takes shape.

Construction Update

It has been about a month since our last construction update and things are moving along; although, not as quickly as we had hoped. The cold snap in November caused a delay as it was too cold for masonry work. But, we are now back up and running. The new lounge/bar area is taking shape and the fireplace is being extended. The 4 season room now has its brick support walls and the final part of the system will be installed next week.

Towards the back of the building, the new prep kitchen is moving along nicely with hopes of completion the beginning of January. The new kitchen space will finally give Silvia all the space she desires to make all of our fresh pasta everyday. No one wants the space to be completed more than her!

Clara's- One Year Later

As hard as it is to believe, we have been in our new space for a year.  (Officially November 19th).  On behalf of Rudy, myself and our entire staff, thanks to all of you for making our move a successful one.  Our family often laughs that for 24 of the 26 years  we were in our old location we always had plans to move but could never find the right space. Clara and Rudy Sr. always dreamed of having the beautiful restaurant we have today.  Both of them love to visit and Rudy and I consider ourselves fortunate to share it with them, our family, and all of you.  Moving a business is never an easy endeavor especially a business with such history in one location, but we are glad we did.  And, we look forward to the end of our construction and serving all of you in our 4 season room and expanded bar in the new year.

Construction Update

Another week and more progress on our construction project. 

This week the crew focused on the the supports for the extension of the bar and waiting area.  It is amazing to watch the crane lift the steel supports into place.  We are still on schedule for an early December completion date!

Construction Update - the Cabrio Arrives!!

It is finally coming together!  The installation of our Cabrio system began this week with the delivery of part of the roof and the support beams.  It was an amazing feat to accomplish in just three days . The work is moving along quickly so we hope to have it ready for customers in December.  Stay tuned to the blog and Facebook for more updates.

Construction returns to Clara's!

It has been almost a year since we moved into our new location so it is time for more construction!! If you have been following our emails you will know about the addition of a patio space. But, we have decided to add a bit more than just a patio. We will be increasing our bar and waiting space out into the current open “patio” so the fireplace currently outside will now be inside the restaurant next to the expanded bar. We hope to give guest plenty of room to sit and enjoy a cocktail and appetizer at the bar and down the road some live music.

The patio will be a Cabrio Structure that will allow our guests to enjoy the “outside” no matter the weather. Yes, even during the winter the system will be heated to provide a comfortable outside experience to enjoy dinner and the snow falling! And, in the summer air conditioning to escape the heat and humidity. The Cabrio system will begin installation the week of October 20^th and we hope to have everything completed in time for the holiday season.   

In addition to more guest space, we will be adding a sidewalk to connect the parking lots with the restaurant and an additional prep kitchen at the rear of the property. The additional kitchen space will allow us to expand our banquet service just in time for the holidays. Remember, we are booking both lunch and dinner parties for November and December.

Rudy and I hope you love the new additions and appreciate your patience as we continue construction. Soon it will be over!
